Although we ended up with aunty nat at hartamas.... hahaha... (next time we'll bring a GPS)<br /><br />Then, the crazy idea of going to Aquaria KLCC....<br />First time to Aquaria KLCC in my life.<br />Queue is long but bearable...<br />The Aquaria itself is not too big but the sharks and the XL size fish do amazed me....<br /><br />And then we decided to go to Subang SS15 Snowflake before going back.<br />Guess who i met there.. Dr Chua and Dr Lim!!!!! hahahahhaa..<br />Who knows we'll bump into someone there? hahaha...<br />plus its someone all the way from Batu Pahat.. hahahaha...<br />was chatting non stop with Dr Chua for almost an hour...<br />from baby delivering to her coach bag.. haha...<br /><br />After the hi tea session, we again rush to Klang for another steamboat session...<br />First time eating the traditional batu arang style of steamboat...<br />never seen these types of steamboat in KL..<br />The day ended with mamak session at Sec 7 Shah Alam...<br /><br />Sunday begins with my alarm at 530am.<br />It is the walkathon day.<br />Hunger Relief Walk.<br />My first walkathon in the city.<br />Or i should say, my first walkathon ever.<br />We reach Padang Merbok, KL around 720am.<br />Breakfast is KFC Colonel Burger and Pizza Hut's garlic bread.<br />Walkathon begins at 830am.<br />Luckily is a walkathon and not jogathon.<br />hahahaha.... sweating but not breathless is not a bad thing after all....<br />it had been a long time since i walk so much....<br />life in KL is just walking to the parking lot....<br />It's not a long walk though, the whole journey took only around 35 mins.<br />Went back with Ayamas chicken rice...<br /><br />Its a weekend full of activity.<br />Too bad we didn't bring along a camera all the way...<br />:)<br />Fun. She is the one who approves my payslip every week... I'll definitely miss the time when i have to hand in my time sheet and check my bank account during the pay day every fortnight..<br /><br />Lakmali is another nice lady from Sri Lanka.. Imagine that she is already a grandmother of two grandkids. I've never done any exam supervision before.<br />2. It sounds interesting coz not much ppl get to do it.<br />3. and..... $$$ matters.<br /><br />Of course i say yes!<br /><br />hahaha..<br /><br />Anyway,<br />after having a busy working day in the morning.... plus a very late sleep the day before...<br />Imagine cutting number cards for a few subjects for the whole morning...<br />photocopying exam papers... (imagine hundred of students)<br />and key in some assignments marks... (imagine few hundred copies)<br />plus running my regression until some 1am the night before...<br /><br />It was a bit tired.<br /><br />The exam starts at 6pm and luckily it was a 2 hours subject.<br /><br />I never knew that doing exam supervision can be that boring.<br />Imagine walking around, standing, doing nothing for 2 hours.<br />Never knew 2 hours can be that long.<br /><br />But funny things do happen.<br />There is a student who asked me whether she can use pencil or pen for question 4..<br />1st thing to clarify is that... I've no idea what paper she is doing.<br />And who cares it's pen or pencil?<br />hahahahahaa...<br />but, to make sure...i do read through the instruction on the cover sheet....<br />before i told her that you can use whatever you like! hahaha..<br />for your information, it was a postgraduate masters subject midterm exam..<br /><br />Luckily it seems to be an easy paper as people starts to leave their seats 45 mins before the exam ends. and when the clock ticks at 8pm, there was only around 10% of the students left sitting in the hall.. so we didn't really take up much time on picking up the papers... i left the exam hall with one of the lecturer and a phD student who was also supervising with all the exams paper sheets.... it took about 15 mins to walk back the office from the exam hall.... so we kinda like chitchatting along the way... it's kinda weird to chat with a lecturer n a phD student on the way... hahahha... and the topic was... masters course in sydney and US, the lecturer was a US graduates. and the topic was initiated by the questions from the phD student on why were there so many chinese student taking masters but only like less than 10% angmos doing it? hahaha..... i did the counting when walking around the exam hall.... its was around 25 angmos doing the exams in a hall with 240 students. and half of them are chinese, and the other half are indians....<br /><br />well.... maybe.... sydney is just another asian city?<br /><br />I have another exam supervision on wednesday night. 6-9pm.<br /><br />and my own mid term paper is on friday 6pm.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/34621830-6786050408477483840?l=cheayin.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>cheayinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04794048212546871406noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34621830.post-88369560913606982452008-09-15T16:28:00.004+08:002008-09-15T16:48:05.988+08:00It's a weird day in the office. Weather is extremely hot. Imagine something like 9 degress two days before and 23 degrees today.<br /><br />Early in the morning, when i was making my coffee before 9am, our school manager came in the kitchen. She was looking at the paper which I just picked up from the library... and said to me,<br /><br />"Lehman brothers in big trouble, isn't it?"<br /><br />It's weird that she actually starts a topic like this, so finance-related issues.. normally, she'll say something like... great weather, huh?<br /><br />Thank god I browse through the news when I was walking back from the library just now and replied,<br /><br />"Ya, I saw it in the paper this morning.."<br /><br />She, then started the topic about US economy and UK recession and asked me about conditions in Malaysia... oh god... how am i suppose to reply all these? haha...<br /><br />"Not good... we relied on foreign investors a lot... we get hurts easily.."<br /><br />I chinchai replied and faster take my coffee away and said,<br /><br />"Enjoy your breakfast!"<br /><br />haha.... its a weird beginning of the day. Work was busy the whole morning, the busiest day I've ever had in the office. Before lunch, one of the oldest professor in the school came in the admin office to spread the news.<br /><br />"Do you know that Merrill Lynch is gone... so do Lehman..."<br /><br />The school manager, the postgraduate head, and the old professor all standing around to talk about the issues...<br /><br />Even when I'm on my way to make another evening coffee in the kitchen I've overheard some conversations about this BIG thing... Lecturers standing around..<br /><br />"Have you heard about Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers?"<br /><br />Well... I guess its the big issue of the year.<br /><br />Heard something about investment banks not hiring this year during the dinner with Bank Negara that night from a guy. He said something like sending in resumes for a few investment banks and one replied that... AGAIN.... after we found that there are actually not much significant results from our regressions... which is a really bad news, Nahid suggested that we increase our sample size coz we can't just say something like.. ermm.. we found no relationship between dividend policy and ownership concentration with no empirical support. Was running between UTS library and state library last weekend to key in the data and finally my sample size increases from 800++ firms to almots 2500firms...urghh.. typing nonstop for the whole day makes my neck and back pain... but the problems do not just end there. Tried to run the regression today and found no relationship AGAIN! Had a long chat with Nahid to sort things out but no conclusion is made. Nahid said he'll try to run it himself and see how after that. So basically, I can do nothing but wait at the mean time. But this doesn't mean that i can have some free time to waste, mid term exams and assignments are coming soon in 2 weeks time. And I've promised to do some exam supervision during the midterm exam week, so basically, everything is coming together... really tight. Time management... time management....<br /><br />Starting to get used to working in the school office. Although picking up phone calls still make me stupid... well well... I just can't catch up with some English accent and fast speaker. And the namess... i can't spell their surnamessss...... phewwww.... Greeting becomes easier as you get to see the same person every week... Talking the strangers are not something new as students always came in for enquiries... But i have to admit that speaking English is hard, and i always find myself 'eating' up words in my sentences... blame my bad english for finding making sentences the most difficult part of speaking... I've never been talking so much English since I came Sydney (told you that Sydney is just another asian city) ...<br /><br />Graduan Malaysian Career Fair will be held this saturday, which means i can't go to work again on Saturday.. and we've got plans on Mooncake Festival on Sunday... so I can't replace my shifts on Sunday... wonder if my boss started to feel my frequent absences after I started working in the school. The whole problem is that i can't work more than 20 hours a week... Ishh... Anyway, back to the career fair. I've got smarter this year by sending in my resume earlier and got 3 scheduled interviews on Friday. 10.15am for Philip Morris, 12noon for Bank Negara and 230pm for Securities Commission. Don't ask me if I'm going to stay or going back.... I don't have any clue... Just to gain more interviews practise... and the invitation from Bank Negara to their dinner on Saturday... haih.... guess what I'm worrying the most........ CLOTHES.... I don't really have a nice dress or what so ever... not even a proper office wear to go for interviews... and I really cant find anytime to go for shopping.... god.... please make my day 48 hours... why do shopping malls close at 5pm???? But, I still cant get rid of the hard feelings abt the stupid mistake I've done for my midterm exam after attending today's class. Attending the lecture and looking at the lecturer just made me recall that day and that question. I'm sure i can get 20/25 out of the ques if I was to do it now.<br /><br />and this........ really hurts, because the truth is I'm getting 0/25.<br /><br />A friend of my class told me that, "People made silly mistake. Some people made silly mistake like drop off a train and died. Your mistake is nothing. Don't kill yourself for that. "<br /><br />Haha... I know its really not worth thinking abt something that had already occured. Life still goes on. But I just can't help to think abt it whenever I saw Taylors expansion (Its a mathematical term which is my stupid mistake for the exam and it tends to appear everywhere in the textbook) in the rest of the chapters.<br /><br />It's just too hard to accept me being SO stupid and silly.<br /><br />That question was so easy! Why did I think of it in such a different way??!!??!!<br /><br />What's the point of studying so hard and barely get a pass? Geez... I don't even know if I can pass it. What should I do if I really fail it? Then, my honours gone. and I can fly back malaysia during the break and never come back.<br /><br />God. Please help me to get rid of this stupid feelings.
